Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 October 2026

This policy explains what information Weaux collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. Weaux is operated by Weaux LLC ("Weaux", "we", "us").

Weaux is an 18+ platform. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

1. Information you give us

• Account information. Your email address, username, password (stored encrypted, never in readable form) and your date of birth, which we use only to confirm you are 18 or older.

• Profile information. Your display name, pronouns, bio, profile photo, background images, link and theme choices. Anything you put on your profile is visible to other users unless your account is private.

• Content you create. Posts, photos, videos and their audio, voice in stories, drawings, comments, replies, direct messages, events and anything else you upload, record or write.

• Reports and correspondence. If you report content or contact support, we keep what you send us so we can act on it.

2. Information we collect automatically

• Device and technical data. Device type, operating system version, app version, language, and a device identifier used to keep you signed in and to send notifications you've asked for.

• Usage data. Which screens you open and what you interact with, so we can find bugs and understand which parts of the app people use.

• Approximate location. Only if you enter a city or postal code to find local events. We do not collect precise GPS location.

3. What we do with it

• Run the service: show your content to the people you chose to show it to, deliver messages, and keep your settings.

• Keep the platform safe: review reported content, enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, and detect abuse.

• Send you notifications you have turned on.

• Fix problems and improve the app.

• Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

• Other users, according to your own privacy settings. A public account's posts are visible to anyone using Weaux; a private account's posts are visible only to approved followers; close-friends content goes only to the people you chose.

• Service providers who work on our behalf — hosting and storage, content moderation services, crash reporting and analytics — under contracts that limit what they may do with it.

• Legal and safety. If we are required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent serious harm.

• A business transfer. If Weaux is acquired or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

5. Verification

None of this is running yet. This section describes two verification features we are building. We will ask for your consent in the app before either applies to you, and we will update the date on this policy when they go live.

Verified badges. Public figures, businesses and organizations can apply for a verified badge. Applying is optional. To review an application we may ask you for:

• A government-issued photo ID, or business registration or incorporation documents.

• Your legal name, the name you are known by, and your role in the organization.

• Links to press coverage, official websites or other public references that show the account is notable and genuinely yours.

We use these only to decide whether to grant the badge. We review identity documents and then delete them. We do not keep copies of your ID, and we do not record ID numbers. What we keep is the outcome: that the account was verified, on what date, and in what capacity. Documents you send us are never shown to other users, never made public, and never sold or shared with advertisers. If your application is refused, we delete everything you sent with it.

Biometric identity checks. Separately, to confirm an account belongs to a real person, we may ask you to submit a photograph of your face.

That photograph is analysed automatically. The analysis may create a face template — a mathematical representation of your facial geometry. Under some state laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, a face template is a biometric identifier.

• Why. Only to confirm you are a real person and to detect duplicate or fraudulent accounts. For nothing else.

• Consent. We will ask for your written consent in the app, and explain what is collected and for how long, before we collect anything. Verification is optional, and you can use Weaux without it.

• How long we keep it. The face template is deleted as soon as verification finishes, and in any event no later than when the purpose is satisfied, when you delete your account, or three years after your last interaction with Weaux — whichever comes first.

• We never sell it. We do not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from biometric information, and we do not use it for advertising, training models, or identifying you in other people's photos.

• Who sees it. Only the verification provider processing it on our behalf, under a contract that forbids any other use. We will name that provider here before the feature launches.

• Withdrawing consent. Email us at the address below and we will delete any biometric information we hold about you.

Weaux does not use face recognition to identify you in content posted by other people, and does not share biometric information with advertisers or data brokers.

Verified badges for notable people and businesses. This is separate from the check above, and is also something we are building rather than something we do today. If you apply for a verified badge we will ask you for documents showing you are who you say you are — which may include a government-issued identity document, business registration or incorporation papers, or links to coverage of you or your organisation elsewhere.

• Why. Only to decide whether to grant the badge, and to stop people impersonating you.

• It is voluntary. You never have to apply, and every part of Weaux works without a badge.

• How long we keep it. We delete copies of identity and business documents once the decision is made, and no later than 30 days after it. We keep only the outcome — that the account was verified, and when.

• Who sees it. Only the people who review applications, and any verification provider acting on our behalf under contract.

• What we never do. We do not sell these documents, do not use them for advertising, and do not use them to build a profile of you.

If we refuse a badge you may ask us why, and apply again later.

6. Content moderation

Content uploaded to Weaux may be checked automatically for material that breaks our rules before it is published. Reported content is reviewed, and we may remove content or suspend accounts. We keep records of reports and the actions taken on them.

7. Your choices

• Delete your account. You can delete your account from inside the app, in Settings. This permanently removes your profile, posts, stories, doodles, events and messages, except where we are legally required to retain something.

• Edit or remove content at any time.

• Control who sees you by making your account private, using close friends, and blocking or muting other users.

• Turn notifications off in Settings or in your device settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — to access the information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your content, with these exceptions: records of reports and enforcement actions, and anything we must keep to comply with the law or resolve a dispute. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

9. Security

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to people who need it, and passwords are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

About direct messages. Messages on Weaux are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are stored on our servers. They are not end-to-end encrypted, which means we are technically able to access message content — and we will, where it is reported to us for safety reasons or where the law requires it. We will tell you clearly if this ever changes.

10. Age

Weaux is for people aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and will not create an account for anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18 we will remove it and delete the associated information.

11. Where your information is held

Weaux is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there. If you use Weaux from another country, you understand that your information will be transferred to and handled in the United States.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will post the updated policy here and update the date above, and where the change is significant we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
